Why Hypnosis?

Hypnosis works directly with the unconscious mind where habits, beliefs and emotions reside. By working in a relaxed state, the Hypnotherapist can establish direct contact and rapport with the unconscious mind and help the client make their desired changes. These changes produce a successful working relationship between the unconscious and conscious minds and lead the client to the greatest personal and professional accomplishments. This course is designed to give you some of the best tools for creating change. Although most people quickly and easily accept direct suggestions under hypnosis, some people will resist. Using indirect techniques often helps to bypass any resistance and allows you to assist the client in making the changes they desire.

What can I expect from this programme?
How are the classes?

This is an intensive twenty-day course of inductive, “hands-on” training for those who want to develop their skills as a Clinical Hypnotherapist. You will be taught how to use direct and indirect methods of hypnosis and hypnotherapy to motivate change toward a desired behaviour. Through instruction, demonstrations and supervised practice sessions, you will learn how to use hypnosis to help yourself and others. The programme is not just theory and lecture; you will learn by doing. You will practice each new technique under the direction of our certified instructors.

The programme starts with the elements of trance phenomena including Depth of Trance, Suggestibility Testing, Basic Inductions and Suggestions. Then we compare the traditional hypnosis of Clark Hull and George Estabrooks with other approaches by Milton Erickson and Dave Elman and also look at the modern approaches of Bill O’Hanlon and Stephen Gilligan. We include a review of specific conditions and treatments and clinical applications for the use of hypnosis in a variety of therapeutic areas. You will be furnished with over 100 sample scripts to facilitate your developing confidence.

Through discussion, demonstration and practice sessions, you will be able to expand your knowledge to include the use of hypnotherapy with a variety of clients and clinical settings. This Diploma programme is approved by and leads to membership of the Hypnotherapy Society and will enable you to offer Hypnotherapy in a variety of settings.

Feedback from our 2008 Hypnotherapy diploma

"From the very beginning of the programme, I knew I had chosen the right path for me. The course and tutors offer students a richness that integrates the theory and experimental parts seamlessly together. With enough stretch, as a student it was a pleasure to be...and...learn...easily."
